The 79th Locarno Film Festival has announced its 2026 award winners, with Romanian filmmaker Florin Șerban’s You Don’t Belong Here receiving the Golden Leopard, the festival’s top prize.
The Special Jury Prize went to A Margem do Rio (The Riverbank) by Matheus Farias and Enock Carvalho, a Brazil-Germany co-production. Hong Sang-soo won Best Direction for Nowhere to Lay My Eyes, while Kim Min-hee and Monica Bellucci shared the Best Performance award for their respective films.
India was represented in the International Competition by Gurvinder Singh’s Rehmat, an India-France co-production starring Naseeruddin Shah. The film had its world premiere in competition but did not receive an award. ([La Regione][1])
