About Cinetrā
The name Cinetrā combines "Cine" (cinema) and "Netra", the Sanskrit word for eye. Together, they evoke the cinema eye: a way of seeing films with greater attention, curiosity, and insight.
Cinetrā is a space for discovering, understanding, and remembering cinema.
With a special focus on Indian independent and South Asian cinema, Cinetrā brings together thoughtful editorial coverage of the independent film landscape, a private film diary to document your cinematic journey, and a rich archive of film festivals and awards.
At its heart is Currents, Cinetrā's editorial magazine, featuring interviews, essays, recommendations, criticism, and reporting on films and filmmakers that often exist beyond mainstream attention.
Our collections and Film Diary help you build a personal relationship with cinema—log films you've watched, keep private notes, create lists, revisit favourites, and trace how your tastes evolve over time.
Cinetrā is not built around algorithms, feeds, or social performance. It is designed to be quieter and more reflective: a place to discover meaningful cinema, deepen your engagement with film culture, and create a lasting record of the films that have shaped you.
