Samjad P. S.‘s feature film Half has been selected for the Midnight Madness section of the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), where it will have its World Premiere. The selection adds another Indian title to this year’s Toronto lineup and places the Malayalam filmmaker in one of the festival’s most distinctive and celebrated programmes.
Produced by Fragrant Nature Film Creations, Half is directed by Samjad P. S. and written by Praveen Viswanath and Samjad. The film stars Ranjith Sajeev and Aiswarya Raj, and carries the tagline “The Chronicles of Two Half-Blooded Vampires,” signalling a genre-bending horror fantasy rooted in Indian storytelling.
The film is produced by Anne and Sajeev, with Excel Entertainment and AA Films presenting and distributing the Hindi version worldwide.
Midnight Madness is one of TIFF’s signature sections, dedicated to bold, original and boundary-pushing genre cinema. Over the years, it has premiered films that have gone on to become cult favourites while providing an important international platform for emerging filmmakers working in horror, thriller, action and fantasy.
With Half, Samjad P. S. joins an impressive Indian contingent at TIFF 2026, which also includes Richie Mehta’s Phoolan in Special Presentations, Theja Rio’s Angh in Platform and Karthik Subbaraj’s Dorothy in Centrepiece. The selection underscores the growing diversity of Indian cinema represented at the festival, spanning mainstream auteurs, independent voices and genre filmmaking.
Half will make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2026.
