The 83rd Venice International Film Festival announced its official awards on September 12, with May el-Toukhy’s Woman Unknwon winning the Golden Lion. The film also earned the Volpi Cup for Best Actress for Mathilde Arcel.

Lee Chang-dong received the Silver Lion – Grand Jury Prize for Possible Love, while Ilya Khrzhanovsky won the Silver Lion for Best Director for DAU.

The Special Jury Prize went to NAZA, directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor. Coralie Amedeo, Stéphane Brizé and Olivier Gorce received the Best Screenplay award for Un Bon Petit Soldat.

John Malkovich won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor for Wild Horse Nine, while Malou Khebizi received the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor for A Place to Heal.

The Luigi De Laurentiis Award for Debut Film went to Auguste Bernard Kouemo Yanghu’s House of the Wind. The Armani Beauty Audience Award went to Alina Șerban’s I Matter.

In Orizzonti, Diane in the Loop, directed by Ann Sirot and Raphaël Balboni, won Best Film. Jacqueline Lentzou received Best Director for A Day in the Life of Jo: Chapter Phaedra, while House of the Wind won the Special Jury Prize.

Laleh Marzban won Best Actress for Falling House, and Riccardo Scamarcio won Best Actor for The Children of the Monkey. Tommaso Landucci and Damiano Femfert received Best Screenplay for The Children of the Monkey. The Orizzonti Best Short Film award went to Shaden Safieddine Tazi’s A Few Moments of Happiness.

In Venice Immersive, The Pigeon Ring by Shixin Tao and Yuqi Zhang won the Grand Prize. Out of the Ashes, by Rory Mitchell and Nonny de la Peña, received the Special Jury Prize, while Peter Flaherty’s Empire at Sea won the Achievement Prize.

La Lunga Notte del ’43 received the Venice Classics Award for Best Restored Film.
