In a desert world ravaged by war and climate change, Dionne is an inhabitant of the city of Ignis Oppidum who worships the Aura, the machine that governs her people. She is honored to be appointed flamine, apostle of the Aura. In the company of her mentor Theneris, himself a flamine, she embarks on a pilgrimage that will change her forever.
