Scientist Pavel Sedykh grows impatient with the restrictions of the conservative Soviet space institute in Moscow. Sedikh builds his own spacecraft, and accompanied by a female astronaut and a boy, he embarks on a the first human trip to the moon.
Added the premiere date to distinguish it from the wide theatrical release. The film Cosmic Voyage was completed and first screened in 1935, with a closed premiere screening at the Kremlin following the completion of the film in October 1935. The date 18 December 1935 is documented as the film’s premiere screening, while the wide public release took place later, in January 1936.
